Former Weyburn MLA Receives 2020 Saskatchewan Order of Merit

Ten people have been awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit for 2020.
Lieutenant-governor Russ Mirasty announced the recipients in a Friday news release, which also noted that the recipients will be officially invested at a ceremony in their honour once public gathering are allowed to resume.
“I offer my sincere congratulations to the newest recipients of Saskatchewan’s highest honour,” Mirasty said in the statement. “The Saskatchewan Order of Merit enables us to celebrate the remarkable individuals, such as this year’s honourees, whose excellence, generosity, and vision have benefited so many people in our province.”
The recipients include:
— Dr. Lorne Hepworth, formerly of Weyburn, a community veterinarian who also formerly served as a Progressive Conservative Saskatchewan MLA from 1982 to 1991. Hempworth now resides in London Ontario.
The Saskatchewan Order of Merit is meant to recognize excellence and achievement in areas such as agriculture, the arts, business, public service, community leadership, research and volunteer service.
